The majority of new learners decide to learn in a Manual car. This is because when you pass your test you will be licenced to drive both Manual and Automatic cars.
Everybody is different but on average you’ll need between 10-15 hours more tuition in a Manual car than you would in an Automatic car.
This is because there are 3 pedals instead of the 2 you would find in an automatic and there is more multi-tasking required in a manual.
A lot of people are worried about the gears and the clutch but once you have mastered using them the remaining lessons will be just as easy as they would be in an Automatic car.
Another thing to be aware of before you decide on Manual or Automatic is that from 2030 no new petrol, diesel or hybrid cars will be manufactured and sold in the UK.
